What Are Local Community Partnerships?
Local Community Partnerships (LCPs) work with schools, parents, businesses and community organisations to help young people aged 13 to 19 years achieve better opportunties in education, training and employment.
Some of the strategies used include:
- Developing individual transition plans and improving the understanding of study and work options
- Providing access to professional career advice
- Facilitating industry work placements
- Promoting vocational and technical education pathways and opportunities
- Enhancing monitoring and mentoring arrangements for all young people.
Local Community Partnerships deliver three Australian Government funded career development and transition support programmes.
- The Structured Workplace Learning programme gives students structured learning opportunties in a real or simulated workplace.
- The Career and Transitions Support programme helps young people access a range of career development and transition support programmes and services.
- The Adopt a School Programme encourages businesses to work with schools to give young people hands-on learning experiences and develop their understanding of work and employability skills.
